A new rule

I played a little last night one $4.oo 180 seat sng and one 5.00 single sng. I had my laptop infront of my tv which I now know is a mistack because it distracts me too much. I aslo was distracted by another player I was up early in the single and then lost a good size pot. I flopped a set of 9s and my opponent called all in with openended straight and flush draw(he hit). I typed in fishy fishy and another player called me an idiot saying the other player was favored. I checked the odds and I was ahead 60/40. So I got in a chat war with the player that made the comment. In conlusion The other player really wasn't a fish and I became so distraceted that I tried bluffing a tight player that was holding KK in the hole. I broke the cardinal rule of poker. Never let emotion determine your play. In the $4.oo I'm curious if I missplayed the hand that got me nocked out on I seriously would like another players input. I was under the gun with 77. I call, chip leader on my left raises to $300 (binds 50/100) (I have 3k)(Chip Lead has 5k). The cutoff calls as does the BB. I probly should of folded right here, but my odds were to good. The flop comes AJ7 Rainbow. The BB leads out and bets $900. I just call. Chip leader goes all in. Cut off calls all in and so does the BB. If this were a bigger by in tournament I would of folded instantly, but at this level there are a lot of Donkeys. I figured one person had AJ or AK, and one had an inside straight draw with KQ or K10 something like that. I also should mention that the only player that had me covered was the chip leader. So I figured I might be over setted, but figured in order for me to go broke the oppent with the over set would have to be the ChpLead and since he went all in almost instantly it seemed unlikely. Yet as you can guess I was wrong the Chlead had JJ the other two oppenents had A7(So I was drawing dead) and K10 respectivaly. In my gut I knew that even if I was ahead that my hand would probly not hold up. So any input on this hand would be usefull. I don't have PS open right now but I think I'm at $94.00 even. Tonight I will implenent my new rule on not play infront of the TV.

In Other news my scuba lessons went really well. I have often dove to the bottom of the pool, but to sit on the bottom and still be able to breath is a whole different ball game. I'm starting to get really excitted about my trip. I also bought the new Chilli Peppers album. I have been listening to if for a week straight and have not skipped a single song. So if you get a chance pick it up.

Taking a Break

I have been unintentially taking a break. I have a good friend(Brandon Lane) who is working near by for a few weeks and I have also been taking scuba lessons in preperation for my dive trip in Aug. Therefore I only played 2 out of the past 5 days. When I played on Sat. I played bad 3 out of the 4 tournies I played and I did not cash in any of them. In the one I played good in I went out fourth because I was card dead, and lost to a two outer early and then a one outer when the action was 5 handed. Then sunday I woke up at 5am for my scuba lesson. After my scuba lesson I hung out with my friend till 11 and didn't get home till 12am. Needless to say I didn't get a chance to play. While in Billings my friend, Brandon, and I watched Lady in the Water. I don't really know what to make of it. I enjoyed watching it and I think the critics are being a little harsh with it. Yet its not a movie I am going to buy when it comes out on DVD. Anyway I got a chance to play a little on Mon. I played 3 and took 2nd in one. This means I pretty much break even end up up like $2. I should of gotten first but the deciding hand crippled me I had caught top pair on a k5x baord with AK. My oppenent and I got it all in on the turn he had K10 and caught a 10 on the river. This left me with 600 to his 12000. He caught another 3 outer on the next flop my 87 to his 85 (5 on the flop) so I was nocked out by consecutave suck outs. O well thats poker. Gonna try to get back into a grove and make some progress before my trip.

Broken streak

Results - $.90

Like last night I played one $5.oo sng and one $4.40. I took 3rd wich stunk. I realy only played one pot wrong. In the 4.40 I went out 66th out of 180. So a lot better than last time. I won't tell you then hand I went out because it was my dumb play of the night. I feel like if I played one more tournied I could turn this into a + night , but im tired and need to sleep.

This Makes 4

Results + $12.60

As the title suggests I now have 4 plus days in a row. I played two tournies today. One single table and one 4.40 multi table. The 4.40 was a joke. The hand i was crippled in was awful I rasied and some one else reriased me the small blind also called. I had AK the flop came KJ x with two spades. I lead out and bet most of the pot the reraiser folded and the small blind went all in I called and he showed A4 two spades. So of course he hit his spade. The A4 had to know that his best shot was a flush and you flop flushes like 1 in 300 or something(I don't know the exact odds, but there not good.) and even if he flops a flush draw with this heavy of action he probly won't get the odds to chase it. In concelation he busted like 15 mins after I did. In the sit and go I was the only one gambeling to try to nock out people so as a result i was often the short stack. This was not that bad of a situation because the table was tight and I could steal chips easly. This allowed me to cash. Once we were all in the money I survived like 5 all ins to take first. The blinds were so big it was a crap shoot as to who would win first. I feel like my play helped me win, but with the blinds as high as they were its hard to tell.

Over $100

Results + $17.50

I skipped one day so I will include that in this one. Well I dont' actually remember how many sngs I played. I just know that I played well. A few things to note. First in all the tournies I cashed in I took an early hit and then battled back to cash. The tourny of notice was the last one. My stats early on were 0 for 1 pots won at showdown and 9 pots won with out showdown. I was almost completely card dead and only my ablitiy to push out the weak players kept me alive. Then when it became heads up I was down to 1800 and my apponent had something like 11000. The blinds were 200/400. So I was perty lucky to win because it came down to a couple of pots that I won with high card. So hopefully I can stay above $100 and expand and play more multi table tournaments.

Day Next

Restults + $10.5

Today could of been big. I palyed three tournies and took 2nd in two of them. The problem was that I was outplaying both players and still lost. The first one was a suck out king he doubled twice in a row. The first one I tried to bluff with and inside straight and missed. The second he called my all in raise with A3 suited(I had QQ). I don't understand when players call all in with this hand. I mean what hands to you expect to stand a good chance of beating. O well. In the next tournie I came back from 340 chips to be chip leader. When it got heads up I was out playing my apponent 9 out of 10 hands. The only miss play I had was I called his all in with QJ and his A high took it. I was trying to end it too quick. Then the blinds went up and I had to move with any A so of course when I'm forced to go all in he has me dominated with AQ (what a set up). So this day was good but one bad move and some seriouse luck sacks and its mediocer. I had to quit after the second cash because I new I would play on tilt. ARRRG

Day Something

Results +$8.00

Was a Perty good day I only played one tourny and got second in it. I could of been a monstar chip leader in this game but when I was up early in it, I blew alot of chips on bad calls. I won a couple of coin flips just to make the money. Then after that I had my apponent set up. He had 7k in chips I had 5k I got AA and min raised it he called and the flop came J10 5 two spades. I bet only 800 and I took my time in betting. He bought the idea that I was bluffin and raised all in. I called and he turned over 72 both spades. So I had him right were I wanted him but the next two cards were 22 and I was out. So even though I cashed I fell like I am still running bad. The beats don't feel as bad when you still win money, but they still suck. Anyway tommorro is FRIDAY YAAAAAA.

I Got Distracted

I have been playing a little since my last up date, but not a lot I have basically stayed the same. I took about two days off and they broke the $100 mark then went back down. There was only one hand of notice. It was down to 4 players and the chip leader limped in and so did the small blind I had JJ in the big blind. Last time he limped I raised and he dropped his hand. Something inside me told me he would not drop this hand so I checked and the flop came QJx. I flopped second set and I checked the Chip leader bet. The small blind went all in I went all in and the chip leader called Chip leader had KK, small blind had AA and neither improved and I took a 6.5 k pot and nocked out the small blind. I'm glad I played the hand the way I did. Other than that I have only played one tournie bad. I'm at $87 so nothing has really changed. Part of the reason I stoped playing is I got into a book. I finished the book so I am going to try and get back into playing nightly.

In other news I am really excited because the H.O.R.S.E. tournament is starting today. If you are interested in following the action both cardplayer.com and pokerwire.com have live updates from the WSOP.

Day 18

Results - $11.00

This was just one on those days not whole lot I could do. In the first tournament I couldn't get anyting going and went out in 4th. I lost when A8 spiked a A on the river against my 99. Then in the next tournament I got pissed when a horible play was made against me and I lost 2/3rd of my stack. I raised under the gun with JJ and got two callers. The flop came 10 9 6 I bet about 3/4 the pot. First caller folded second called and the next card was 7 I bet and the caller pused all in now I could of folded, but I called I was perty much priced in. 300 to win 2000. He turned over Q8 and had made his inside straight. Now here is why this play is terible. It is early and unless you have notes on a player you have no idea how they play. I raised under the gun which means I have a strong hand. Not to mention there was a call behind him. This means your are most garauntied to have your Q compromised and if not one of us probly has a piar higher than an 8 which leaves you with three outs before the flop. Yet he calls anyway. On the flop I bet 3/4 the pot now if he thinks I'm bluffing with two high cards he should push and not give me the chance to catch a high card or he should fold. Instead he just calls now this means he is drawing to the double gut 4 jacks and 4 7's (he doesn't know I'm holding JJ) if he still considers his Q an out then he has 3 of those. This is a grad total of 11 outs take out one (to account for porbablilty that it was folded) and this player has 10 outs. there were 8 players so 16(hole cards) + 4(3flop and one burn) = 20 cards in play already 52-20 = 32 so out of 32, 10 will win and 22 will lose about 2.5:1 to hit so in the long run to make it worth to call you must have pot odds of at least 2.5:1 I bet 3/4 so he was clearly not getting the odds be needed, but in reality he had only had 8 outs and was at best 3:1 to win. Yet miracles happen and he hit. I shouldn't complain to much its play like this that keeps me in the green(most of the time).

Day 17

Results - $3.00

Lost two, took second in one. I still fill really confident. I am a little disapointed. I came back from bieng down 2:1 and took the chip lead during heads up play, but then I got impatient and eventually lost on a bad call. So it easilly could of been a plus day but it didn't really feel like a down day.

Day 16

Results + $8.00

I only played one Sng and it went really well I took 2nd But I should of won. With 4 players left I had I think 8k in chips. The hands were really comming and I was playing them well I feel like I nocked out half the table and I think I did. I got in too big a hurry with the remaining guy. I doulbed him up twice and then coin flipped with him and lost the chip lead to him I was out playing him, but he was only giving up small pots. Truth be told I also went card dead and was lucky this guy was not more aggressive or else I would of been out sooner. I should of wrote in my notes he will call with any pair. O I forgot to mention that I was down to 34o on my first hand and rallied to be the chip leader for the majority of the tournament. So mixed results but its nice to keep the run going. I have tommorro off from work, but my uncle has work planned for me, but I should be able to fit in a few more games. I hope to break the $100 dollar mark. If I do then I will start playing more multi tables I really like the $4.40 180 person tournies that Poker Stars runs. I will only play theses though while my bank roll exceeds $100. So have a fun and safe 4th.

Day 15

Results + $0.82

The numers somtimes don't show how good a day it was. I nearly cashed in a Sng, but when out 4th. If I had cashed if would of been 4 in row. I also decided to play $5 multi tournie. I was playing really good and was in fairly good position then I was moved to a new table and had no idea how the table was playing. I got AQ in the BB and the under the gun player just limped in and the button min raised so I rasied all in and the UTG player then re-reraised and had a felling I was way behind he fipped over KK. His KK held up and I went out 143 out of like 1800. So it was a fairly good result. I don't think I missplayed the hand the buttton was short stacked and the UTG was near the chip lead so he could of been limping with anyting and I was probly ahead of the min raiser. The one thing that was dissapointing was he UTG player typed Hehe thxs(thanks) as if I gave him my chips. Given my limited information of the table I believe I made the correct play. So if you read this and you play remember don't critisize a player becuase they have a good hand and you have a great hand.

Day 14

Results + $26.5

Today was the day I have been looking for. I Played 5 single sngs. Went out in the first two pretty quickly. Then in the third I lost 2/3 my stack on the first hand I played. Out of frustration I jumped in another so I was playing 2 at the same time. I won a couple hands in the second one this helped my confidence. So I recovered in the one I was way down and went on to take third in that one and then first in the second one. Then in the Last one I could do no wrong I cracked AA with q 1o when I made two pair on the river. The wierd thing is something inside me knew I was going to win that hand even though I was way behind. Its kind of the feeling I get when i know my hand is going to get cracked. So I had a longer than average and I only ended it when I cracked QQ with A9 when I made the A high straight. So even though I was very lucky to win it was just one of those tournaments that you can feel the cards comming and now your going to suck out to win some major pots.
